Won't upshift pass 6 gear

I was driving the other day when suddenly my Sequoia didn't want to upshift pass 6 gear. At first i thought that i did something that led to that but then i checked and everything was okay. The car was in drive mode just like every day. I've tried with sport and eco also, but the issue remained. Has anyone an idea on what can be the problem? i'm totally lost here

it can be a lot of things, it's best to scan for codes even if the check engine isn't on, it can still search for stored transmission related codes.

+1 for what @Charlie2302 said here and there might be warning lights also that you're missing. Might be low or dirty transmission fluid messing up your shifting too.

that's weird! Stuck in 6th gear no matter what mode? Did it happen suddenly, or did you notice any other weirdness before it got stuck in 6th?
