rear sliding window

I got my eyes on a 2024 Toyota Sequoia but I just recently found out that instead of a sliding window, the rear just flips up open. I don't know if this is a deal breaker for me.. Does anyone know why Toyota made this design change? If anyone also owns a 2024 or any model with the same rear window, I'm eager to hear your feedback about how it affects your overall experience or any issues I should be aware of.

Absolutely, I noticed that as well when I checked one out. Toyota went with the flip-up glass because of their revamped frame design and tailgate structure. It's definitely more straightforward with fewer moving parts, but you do sacrifice some airflow and the convenience of easy access to gear that a roll-down window offers. I had an older model with a sliding window, and it was fantastic for road trips with my dog. This new design does the job, but it doesn't have that same feel. If that feature's important to you, it might be a good idea to check it out in person before making a decision.

Oh yeah, I was bummed when I saw that too. The flip-up feels to me like a step backward if you're used to cracking the rear window for airflow or quick access. I guess... they could have spent time on something else to improve. Something that actually needs to be improved.

It's not really a big deal, I've already adapted to it and i'm fine with it now, especially with the upgrades like comfort, power and tech.

Maybe because of all the rust in the snowy regions it was discontinued. I guess a better window seal to keep the salt out could have fixed that.
