I'm checking in to see if any of you awesome 2022 Toyota Sequoia owners have actually tried out the official Toyota Dash Cam. I'm seriously thinking about getting one, but I'd love to hear from real users first.

Specifically, I'm wondering a couple of things, like what's the typical cost, including installation? And how well does it actually work in day to day driving?

Any quirks, super cool features, or maybe things that bug you about it? Is the video quality good, especially at night or in tricky lighting?
Any insights or personal experiences you could share would be super helpful before I make a decision!

Used it on mine for a few months. The install ran me around $500 total through the dealer. Daytime quality's solid, and it handles low light decently, though not perfect. What surprised me is that it keeps recording even when parked. Only thing that bugs me is the limited app interface. Otherwise, it's been reliable!

I got the official Toyota Dash Cam for my 2023 TRD Pro. I paid about $400 for the unit itself, then a couple hundred more for the dealer to install it cleanly. Performance is good, with 1080p video quality that's clear in most conditions. The parking surveillance is a great feature for a rig like the TRD Pro, giving you some peace of mind. The app is still a bit finicky for downloading videos, so I'd usually just pull the SD card. If you're okay with the price tag for a factory-integrated look and decent performance, I think it's a solid choice.

What stood out most for me was definitely the seamless, factory-integrated look. It just looks like it belongs there, with no visible wires cluttering up the dash. The reliability has also been solid, and the parking surveillance feature is really a big plus. Honestly, if you're willing to pay a premium for that clean, OEM look and the peace of mind of a dealer-installed product, then I'd recommend it. But if your main priority is getting the absolute best video quality or a wider range of features for your money, then a trusted aftermarket option would probably be the better choice. It really comes down to what you value more.

I also got a 2022 and I went back and forth on this myself. I spent around $400 for the part itself, and then you're looking at anywhere from $100-$200 for installation at the dealership. I know someone who did it himself. He said it was a bit of a pain mainly because you have to mess with the overhead console, but still doable!!

I find the video quality decent enough for capturing what I need. I know it's not a super high-end 4K camera like some aftermarket ones, but it gets the job done, even at night. I also have to agree with @justned about the seamless integration. But what I like more is that it's covered under your vehicle's warranty and the parking mode feature. So it'll wake up and record if it detects an impact even while the truck is off.

Just the official dash cam doesn't have a rear camera option so if that's what you're looking for then I guess you'll have to go aftermarket..
